The SANA Group’s first non-hotel project celebrates its seventh anniversary this summer, having opened on Avenida Brasília, in Belém, in 2017. Reflecting on a “very positive outcome” for the project, which has seen “exponential growth” in the “premium” market, the group is introducing some new food and drink offerings at SUD Lisboa Terrazza, the all-in-one venue overlooking the Tagus River.
Inspired by the relaxed, bon-vivant culture of Southern Europe, particularly Spain and Italy, SUD Lisboa combines two spaces with restaurants, bars, terraces, an infinity pool, and a versatile event space, all located in Belém, right by the Tagus River, in the company of the 25 de Abril Bridge and the EDP’s MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. Celebrating seven years since July 11th, the venue now offers a new cocktail menu and daily dish suggestions on the terrace with a pool and at the SUD Terrazza restaurant.
Early on, the 11-meter-long and 1.50-meter-deep pool, with its prime riverside location and luxury services, was and continues to be one of the most coveted spots. In 2017, it operated from 9 AM to 6 PM. Currently, the hours are from 10 AM to 6 PM (or until 9 PM on Sundays to coincide with the sunset), and for €95 per person, guests can enjoy snack and beverage moments provided at 11:30 AM and 4 PM, with an exclusively reserved sunbed or armchair.
In the morning, two spoons with savory snacks, cut fruit, pineapple or orange juice, and coffee upon request are served. In the mid-afternoon, savory snacks and a fruit sorbet are offered, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine, gin, or a mocktail. Bottle service of water is included, as well as access to the changing rooms, where the lockers come with a bath towel. This experience is called the SUD Pool Experience and is reserved for those over 18, ensuring tranquility by the saltwater pool, which features a waterfall and a DJ. The attentive staff strive to fulfill every request.
On the same floor is the SUD Pool Lounge, a shaded sitting area where any guest can enjoy the new cocktail menu crafted by the bar team and, if desired, light meals. On the lower floor of SUD Lisboa Terrazza, the restaurant offers a Mediterranean menu with a strong Italian influence, overseen by executive chef Patrick Lefeuvre. The latest addition is the daily lunch specials during the week, such as Chickpeas with egg and olives, and Black pork pluma with green asparagus migas.
Entertainment, in turn, remains a core part of the project’s DNA, reflected in a daily program of performances by musicians, performers, DJs, and resident singers. Customized events—from premium brand launches and private events to weddings and even corporate meetings—take place in the versatile SUD Lisboa Hall, the sister building to Terrazza. According to administrator Salomé Gorgiladze, this combination of features has helped attract a diverse audience, ranging from corporate and diplomatic circles to groups of friends and families.
“The performance of SUD Lisboa over these seven years has been very positive. There are similar spaces in Saint-Tropez, Marbella, and various parts of the world, but we have taken the concept even further [and feel that] our premium concept has been the first choice for both national and international clients. These seven years of activity have shown that our vision was correct, [as] we have seen exponential growth and continue to pay close attention to market trends to offer surprising products and services,” she says.
